Celebrating Mommom

Some people have a way of leaving so much behind them when they go that in turn it feels like they didn’t go anywhere at all.. Those are the type of people who have a way of staying with us forever.DSC02647

Fortunately, my mommom was one of those people, she lived, she really lived. DSC02651

At 91 years old she left behind so many traditions, recipes, values and a spirit that we all envy….

DSC02579

She doesn’t believe in getting old, being weak, tired or taking medications, I think this had a huge part to play in her passing so quickly. She believes family and being together are the most important things in the world. According to her, you didn’t stay for a visit unless you let her cook for you and sat down to share a meal together.   DSC02539

She was old fashioned and remembered everything you told her because to her it was important… she made you feel like you were all that mattered in her presence and she had amazing intuition about people. DSC02629Every time we got off the phone with each other she told me “tell Alex hello and you two take care of each other”. She absolutely adored my husband, she thought his heart was so big and she loved that he ate her food and he adored her right back… and her food! DSC00110

We were so happy to tell her about Lola when we found out I was pregnant! more than that we couldn’t wait to tell her Lola’s due date… it’s on Poppops birthday!

20121224_210107

She was hard headed and knew what she liked and wanted… it drove most people nuts but I LOVED that about her… I wonder where I get it from!

DSC00731

She loved to celebrate and entertain and when your around her everything feels like a party! I think one of the happiest days of her life may have been Billy moving to Philadelphia, I’m so happy for the time they got to spend together! DSC02635

We so wish Lola was able to meet you but like I said so much of you is still here with us.We promise to not only tell her all about you when she gets here but we hope to live in a way that instills the family values in her life that were so important to you and so enjoyed by us all.DSC00764

We are really hating that we are not able to be in New Jersey tomorrow to say our goodbyes but I know if i called you and told you I planned to come up there the week of my due date you would literally have a fit!

DSC00733So instead, tomorrow we will think of you as we always do and celebrate you by eating plenty of stinky cheese!  I may have to save the wine for after Lola get here but I promise to make it up to ya!

Love you mommom.

Do I still have a blog!?!?!

I think I LITERALLY forgot about this poor thing!

Oh my goodness with the obsession of nesting, aching fingers, nights and days of pure exhaustion and the highlight of my day finding a comfortable position once I do sit down doesn’t leave much room for blogging!

On top of that any time spent on the computer I was relentlessly searching for a car since mine was officially deemed “totaled” last week… oh boy!

Then I realized “oh my gosh she could be here by the time I blog next”! So if i think of getting another blog “in” of “pregnancy life” before she comes and consider it to be a part of nesting maybe it will help me get something down!

After all this whole pregnancy is coming to an end rather quickly (I would have never described it as “quickly” a month ago) and I want to remember every part of bringing the love of our life into this world- exhaustion and all!

This may not look like much of an accomplishment but what a  weight lifted off my shoulders by finally finding a new car for me! I contribute being able to blog again because of this “check mark”!

20140125_155452

As far as the nesting, I don’t think it will end until she gets here but I will say I finally can say “whew, I think we are all ready for her”…..

20140103_221951 20140103_223201 20140105_070311

Her blankets and clothes are washed, her bag is packed and Lou and I’s bags are packed and ready to go!

I will never admit how much money I have spent packing mine and her’s bag….. it’s been bad. Really bad. This mama has bought 15 of every item ever listed on any list you could possibly find entitled  “what you really need to bring to the hospital” on either Youtube or google..… thankfully I blame it all on the MEDICAL condition called “nesting” and Lou just nods his head and we move on to the next topic :)

Like these baby’s and the ever so obvious hormonal changes they are suffering from…. which has affected them both physically and emotionally and they have BOTH gained weight!!

(aren’t they sweet though)

20140113_160909  We bought them diet food again this week… they have not been on that since the summer but the vet has always told us TJ can’t afford to be over weight due to his hip which was never a problem because he has probably been the same weight the last 7 years but all of a sudden he has plumped out! Ut oh!

Nothing unusual for our girl though.20140113_161011_1

We tried blaming it on the cold weather but let’s face it these babies are picking up on Lola’s expected arrival and they are about to have a fit to meet her!

20140106_101010

I was happy to get some extra days at home with them when my school was cancelled 2 days for this winter “snow storm”…. laugh if you want, we will take it! Hopefully another this week too!?!20140106_101032 20140106_101048 20140106_101058 20140106_101259

Speaking of plumping up and big bellies…. feel the need to catch up on my belly?

20140125_06003220140108_131232  They think Lola will be a good mix between Lou and I’s weight… I was a huge baby and he was tiny, they don’t think she will be either and are estimating her to be about 8 pounds by next week!

20140113_1742331388517191248

How does a little 8 pound girl take up SOOO MUCH ROOM!!?!?

20140109_11521220140113_174108

My wardrobe is getting smaller and smaller, thank heavens for leggings and scarfs-  throw them together with any top that fits and call it an outfit!!   20140123_154748

Sweet, naive very not pregnant Kayla picked me up for lunch last week and asked why i was “dressed up” i then had to explain i have no “lounge” clothes that fit! I can barely fit into Alex’s t-shirts for bed! A few weeks ago Renee and i discussed how lucky she was to have Josh and all of his HUGE tshirts when she was pregnant!

Renee, uhhuhhmmmm: SEND ME SOME!20140112_145925

Have i mentioned this is what my new Friday night dates look like…. or Saturday. or Sunday. Hell okay, during the week too!20140123_192432 Snapchat-20140120055758 20140111_14405820140119_151024 20140120_180945

I want to say bless him but I’m going to go with bless me!

Lol, only kidding….. Lola, I really can’t wait for you to meet him! Not only do you have an amazing, selfless daddy you have the hardest working daddy your mama has ever met.

I have decided this past month that finding, creating and confirming financial security is your daddy’s own way of “nesting” to prepare for you! Since we have met he has always talked about how his mom used to constantly worry and talk about them not having any money or discuss with them how she wasn’t sure how they would make it through etc.… as a child hearing this on an on going basis I can only imagine the worry and helplessness that must accompany that feeling.

Since high school Lou and I have always talked about what things we wanted to make sure we did with our kids and what things we wanted to change and do differently…I can remember years ago his answer was always the same 2 things, he never wanted our kids to have to worry about money and he wanted to be at ALL of their “events” to support them!

This obviously showed me how much of a burden it was on him to stress about their financial situation growing up. Fortunately his two priorities force balance upon each other in order to both exist.  This too is why your daddy is working like a crazy person to get it all done before you come! All while never missing a single doctors appointment or “ouchie” I have in the middle of the night that he wakes up to rub away! Plus getting the house, your room and mommy’s on going to do list all ready for your arrival!

20140126_071653

20140112_171436

I promise you won’t go home from the hospital with crazy people little girl. We’re just crazy about you!

20140112_173517

Speaking of your sweet little daddy, he turned 29 last week and your mom managed to pull together some people to celebrate, shopped and got a cake all 2 weeks out from your due date! Now that is an accomplishment!

Who are we kidding, just getting my mind off of her is an accomplishment!20140112_150038

We have officially been together more years than we have been apart!

20140118_163730 20140118_164018

His loyal party people! 20140118_164025 20140118_164331

So you know i felt the need to win a prize for decorating the house this year!20140120_172546

20140120_172406   20140121_024619

This was Lou’s birthday morning, I even got up bright and early on Lou time with him! 20140121_07580320140121_141005 20140121_141057   The craziest part was on Alex’s actual birthday his work and my work had surprise showers for us both! 20140121_140940

Several side notes to follow:

1)  Would you believe it if i told you at almost 10 months prego I have FINALLY determined what my craving was….. 20140116_154401

Yup, with crushed ice of course. Honestly I go through about 1 of these every 2 days, this and water is all i could ever dream of… YUM!

2) I finally picked and ordered our maternity pictures, I love them but it was really hard to decide! Especially considering I had planned to hang some in Lola’s room and there is literally no room anywhere now- it’s complete- that blog is still to come!

20140127_231049 20140128_011103

3) Here is my creeper husband at the doctors office… as if they don’t already know him as “the husband who asks all the questions” he now carries his damn video camera everywhere!

1389296989795

I do think it’s quite fitting and hilarious that while most parents…. (like me) who are expecting a baby read books like “what to expect when your expecting” this guy could not be farther from it… He has been reading biology and anatomy books as well as the practice test for Obstetricians who sit for the boards… Yes. Really.

It’s quite obvious he knows ten times more about this pregnancy and Lola than i do! At the same time his confidence with being so knowledgeable on it all is what i contribute a HUGE part of my calmness too! That and the fact that he “screens anything” i try to look up, watch or google online… you can find some scary stuff out there and ever since I “accidently” read about that still born birth I am all for Lou’s “pre-screenings!”

Read on Lou!

4)We celebrated the “single digit countdown” this past Friday after our 38 week appointment by lunch at Panera
(where else) before Lou had to go back to work!

9 more days!

20140124_132328

But we weren’t so happy to hear little miss priss wasn’t ready yet!

1390586786494

5) Any idea how exciting it is to decorate for a holiday that comes AFTER your due date!?!?! VERY!

20140113_19141620140111_145001 20140111_145138

6) While buying our car in Newnan we got to make it a play date with JJ- oh how i love that girl and oh how she loves Lola! Lola kicked and kicked for her and JJ got to feel her all over!

20140125_161217

7) One of the only things about shopping with Lola “in my belly” that I will miss! 20140106_170203She has stayed consistent with hating to shop since about 26 weeks and ESPECIALLY HATES Target!

Her grandpa and dad think this is the greatest news ever!

8) Sometimes I wonder if Milly knows specifically that “Lola is in my belly”…. She has been caught on more than one occasion starring at me as if Lola is just going to appear?
20140120_115228 20140123_212755  9) I’m the happiest girl in the world driving around with your car seat in the back knowing that whenever you choose to celebrate your birthday, sooner or later you will be with us and I won’t be able to imagine life any other way! Oh i can’t wait!20140126_071949

Only 5 more days until we get to meet you- we hope!!!

(Don’t be late Lola, this mama has expectations!)
