We arrived to Rome and it was already beautiful! We arrived early so we had a full day ahead of us! We checked in to our apartment and it was HUGE, we even had a fourth bedroom that worked out nicely since daddy and Lola needed a log awaited nap as soon as we arrived!
Check out our view We were on the 7th floor!
Then everyone crashed along with Lola!
Billy and I were the only ones still going so as soon as Lola woke up i called nap time OVER and we woke everyone up!
Time to go see Rome!
We don’t look excited do we? Lola loved the views but was giving her daddy a heart attack!
Billy (thankfully) navigated us to the train and landed us here on day one… the Colisseum!
First thing is first in true tourist style… let me take a selfie! The whole gang!
I took a million pictures of the colisseum trying to get it all in one view!
If this is what Rome had to offer, we loved it!
Lola loved this horsie! So naturally we used it to our advantage to try and get her to look at the camera! It didn’t work but I love this picture of Lola!
Alex took so many videos of her running around freely outside the colliseum, they are adorable… maybe one day they will get posted! LOL
Matilda jane does Rome REALLY needs to be a hashtag!
I kept thinking “wow, won’t it be neat when Lola looks back at these pictures one day when she learns all about Itay and Rome and can see herself running around the colisseumas a baby!”
Moving on! We picked the best spot for dinner, right outside the colisseum! Poor Angela had gotten the bug tht was going around so they went home early to catch up on some sleep while we had dinner!
Ruins were everywhere, we dined in the far right of this picture!
Lola fell in love with doing “cheers” and I fell in love with Bruschetta!
I heard the best time to see the colisseum was at night so i made sure we did another stop by on the way home for some pictures The next morning (Angela was feeling better) so we all made it out to find a good spot for lunch and picked out pretty pictures on postcards to put in our request to Billy to find us fun sight seeing places to go see!
I loved the city streets but can not imagine driving in them
This was one of those “oh it’s gorgeous, do we know it?” stops! Turns out we didn’t but it included shopping and a candy bar so i was in!
Who spends 20 Euro’s on candy and banana chips? ME!
We stopped at a grocery on the way to our next stop (notice i don’t know the names of anything we saw!) and i had to take a picture, all the meat and cheese reminded me of mommom!
One of the neatest part of Rome was the beauty and detail of every church- even the smallest of churchs’! They were all absolutely beautiful! Wssn’t this the cutest, it was a coffee shop! If only I drank coffee….
Everything we saw everywhere was so pretty we would ask Billy “is this something we are supposed to be excited about?” Usually the answer was no, believe it or not… it just happened to be that historic, big or beautiful…. oh how i love Rome!
This was a huge landmark of ruins on our way to “somewhere else!”
Isn’t he the cuteest- Tara thought i was a creeper.
More churches, we decided to light a candle in this one for mommom since it was her birthday the previous day- we love you mommom!
Lola had just woken up when we arrived to the church so it was a great- waking up pit stop for her!
Of course the sight i wanted to see (from the Gidget goes to Rome movie) was under construction! Not that i knew the name of it but hey, Im just along for the ride!
Lola ate he first pizelle here from an ice cream shop!
Lola loved the kitty, it’s usually how i brined her to walk in any direction i needed her to walk in… “look a kitty, look a puppy!”
This was Alex’s favorite stop, The Pantheon!
It ranked pretty high on Lola’s list too since it included a water fountain!
We had another full day of waking and has hoped to eat dinner on the rood top of a garden hotel we had found above some ruins but it was booked! At this point we had waked so much we took the closest thing (in distance to it) and plopped down!
Lola loved being fancy with Aunt Angela and showing her how to cheers!
The next day was our last fu day and Billy and Angela decided to go biking through the country side while we headed off to explore the Vatican and surrounding area…We thought this place was so cute to stop at for lunch and then we realized… we’re in a Canadian bar! Oops… who the hell goes to Rome to eat at a Canadian bar serving Italian food!?!
Oh well the scenary was pretty and next to a McDonalds where daddy Lou snagged some nuggets for Lola- a win win!
(found a cow) She thought it was HILLARIOUS to help feed Aunt Taytay and then everyone else!
The owner (and everyone else) was literally gooo goo ga ga over Lola…. can you blame them!
then we made our way to the Vatican- there is a wall completely around the property of it that goes on for miles! People were all waiting in the line to get in…. we were not those people!
Alex led us around the outside of it to the “city square” and it was absolutely beautiful! Tara and I were so good at being tourist- we would always tell the boys- take us to where the other tourist are!
We arrived and it was LARER than life and oh so beatiful!
Lola was quite the celebrity there…. people were literally shoving their selfie sticks in her face to take her picture!
Group pic!
We had to go… Best guess is Lola’s reaching for a puppy, baby, bird or kitty!
We moved on from there and stumbled upon this castle… oh you know…. totally random!
There was no stroller access and lots of steps…. SO we took lots of sight seeing breaks!
Thankfully at the top their was relief…. a BAR!
Ensue all the junk food you can bring us and drinks!
Lola had her first gelato- and liked it!
It was a petting zoo for Lola, these birds were so “friendly” !
Billy and I kept noticing everyone drinking these “orange drinks” and i thought this was the perfect time to order one!
Bad news… it was absolutely terrible- but pretty!
We said good bye to castle and the stairs and decided to have a real dinner and then taxi it home! We had outdone our walking for the day, we hit a max!
Lucky girls to have our daddy Lou!
Lola loved to sniff flowers now!
Wouldn’t ya know our last day in Rome and the child finally eats!!! Of all things she ate the pesto spaghetti…. this child is always surprising me!
We had to catch a 9am train ride up to Milan the next day so Rome was a wrap!
