I knew it would be a BIG afternoon for the girlfriend so we took it easy that morning with pajamas and tea parties!
She had actually just watched a Taylor Swift video where they sipped tea for a split second and she ran to her tea pots and cups…. such an imitator these days!
The girl is a HAM at home lately!! She is starting to keep herself entertained and instead of me taking advantage of it I usually just follow her around video taping!
This literally went on and on and on!
She is such a little perfectionist mommy and when she gets an idea stuck in her head she does not stop!
Finally after a (horrible attempt at a) nap the time had arrived! Off to the aquarium we go!!
Just before we left is when we got some bad news and I was yet again surprised beyond belief….
We had been stood up.
It was not only the second time in one weekend…. but too many times to count in and on going lieu of invitations we have extended for far too long to count.
The best part is 9 times out of 10 it’s our fault.
Lol, Life is fun Lola, I’m so glad you have a sense of humor your going to need it!
Being stood up however is not what surprised me beyond belief.
It was the way that Lou handled being stood up that I feel was worth noting.
I have mentioned in several post that just because all my pictures and blogs are of the happy and beautiful things in our life that we want to remember, doesn’t mean ugly things don’t happen.
I have pondered since Lola has been born how to handle this particular situation and after MUCH silence I thought, what better way than to show how her daddy continues to persevere and handle the ugly things..
If you ever read this baby girl, know life isn’t always beautiful but more times than not you get to decide how to respond to the un-beautiful things.
For your daddy, he decided to take a deep breath, lookup and say “all right lets go!”
He continued to say how excited he was to take her to the aquarium and how we would not be letting this mess up our trip.
(I on the other hand poured a strong roadie and then proceeded to follow his lead. That’s beside the point. Take daddy’s lead not mommy’s.)
Just when I think your daddy has every right to break down, cry like a baby, throw his arms into the air, cuss like a sailor he takes a deep breathe, compartmentalizes it and makes sure above all else it doesn’t interfere with our time with you.
So off we went to see the world through baby girls’ eyes!
Sometimes the three of us together is better than any other crowd anyway!
Turns out it was the perfect remedy…. having a child really is like seeing the world with new eyes for the first time. You notice the tiniest things and get SO excited about them… I never thought I could get so excited about seeing different colors of clouds, airplanes, trucks but seeing her excitement in it all is more than i could have ever imagined!
If clouds do this to us… you can imagine seeing an entire aquarium of fish, whales and dolphins!
As soon as we got there we had so much to see but she was content already! All this girl wanted to do was sit down and watch the fish at the very first tank!
Notice her hand pointing to the alligator below, she didn’t know what to think of him being white!
Her daddy wanted to carry her everywhere, I kept reminding him to put her down and let her explore at her own pace. He was just so excited to “show” her each thing and I said he “wanted to take credit for it”. ;)
She looked so shocked and confused by the beluga whales, I don’t think she new anything that big could swim! It sounds odd but we a thoguht the jelly fish were beautiful! This aquarium went above her head like a tunnel!
That’s right baby girl, you and lovie have a whole world of exploring ahead of you.. Waving to Daddy!
This is Lou’s absolute favorite thing he has taught Lola… to “hold on”! It’s the sweetest thin after all this time of us holding he to feel her holding us back!
Lola was so interested in all the babies in strollers too!
Before we left I ta;led Lou into letting her see her first 4D movie… well her first movie theatre experience ever! It was only about 15 minutes but they blew bubbles from bubble machines and she loved it!!
In the end he thought should have “taken her out early” and I couldn’t have been more proud, she didn’t sit for more than 2 minutes but i thought she did great!
We have a difference in standards!#coolmom right Lo?
Bye dolphins!!!
Kisses until next time! When we walked out and showed Lola all he skyscrapers she thought this was just another part of what we came to see!
Holding hands.. I know Lola, I know!
Lola swore this was Poppy’s golf cart!
Another fun adventure logged with the girlfriend. We love you Lola and don’t forget to keep that wacky sense of humor you have!Pajamas and dolphin kisses people.
It’s a wrap!
