Oh yes, it’s legit! These two are married!!!
We were SO excited to be a part of their big day and everything was so beautiful….. honestly beautiful!
From the love their family has for one another (which literally seeps out from every ounce of them), to the venue, to the dress and even the weather! It was all breathtaking and I couldn’t be more proud to say that my ENTIRE family got to help be a part of their big day!
Here’s the recap, Minnicks’ version!
To say we made it Friday night for rehearsal is a stretch! We were an HOUR late, made two wrong turns (technically three except one wasn’t “wrong” according to google, it should be though because it took us all over Bum F* to get to somewhere that was an exit right off the interstate… ugh!), sat in traffic like nobody's business, had a paci meltdown (thinking we left it at home-eventually found one) and put in the wrong address after noticing “we arrived” was at a courthouse!
Even Lola needed a drink after that ride!
AHHHH is that not the definition of STUNNING?
Yeah… I remember when Kayla initially started looking at Venues, they were gorgeous… plantation houses, barns, tents, mountain views…. um hello!!!! Why were we looking anywhere else but RIGHT here in your own backyard!?!?!?
It was the perfect spot and we (thankfully) had all the time in the world to practice! However, Lola and the boys didn’t need any of that! We sat her in the bumbo chair inside the wagon and she could have sat there for days!
Kayla has been telling me about sweet Luke since before Lola was born! I think her dream is for them to get married! How cute is he though honestly!
You know you have a good family when the preacher feels such an emotional connection to them that he even gets emotional! It was so sweet and sincere to hear his words at the rehearsal and ceremony…. I never cried at a single wedding until I had Lola…. I didn’t even cry at my own! I have always simply thought of them as such happy events but I cry at EVERY SINGLE ONE now…. I guess you just see things differently when you have a baby girl…
Tears I tell you, at EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
Kayla and her crew- even Briana who had just had a baby LAST WEEK!! What a trooper she was!!
Krista and Lola, they just LOVE each other!
Then it was time for the good stuff! AKA Kayla's mamas’ cooking (and her daddy’s grilling)!
…Oh yes and Karaoke! Lola loved the music and being passed around by everyone as usual, what a trooper! Kayla’s aunt eventually put her to sleep for us on the swing- you can never have enough mommy help!!!
We put our sleepy bundled up baby girl in the car and headed home for the night…. I’m not sure if we are considered “sad” or “resourceful” but we definitely consider any late night drive where we get to ride in the front together and Lola sleeping in the back to be the closest thing to a “date” these days!!
The next morning we celebrated with a MAJOR milestone… Lola crawled!!!
Oh yes- we’re mobile!!! So we celebrated with lots of squeals (mostly for mommy) and then loaded up to hit the road- Aunt Kayla was getting married!!
I walked in to see Kayla all dolled up looking absolutely gorgeous only to find out… she didn’t even have her make up on yet…. say what! #flawless
Lola practiced her crawling skills that morning while us girlies got ready!
Lola got all dressed up for pictures with her bride and then we rushed to get her back out of it and down for a nap before going down the aisle..… now that’s what i call getting it done!
Thankful to have this girly in our lives and thankful for the love she has for my family and especially Lola… you never really know someone’s heart until you see them fall in love with your baby. It’s the most beautiful thing ever and the most genuine relationship you will ever find. I’m so thankful that I have some of the best girlfriends in the world that love Lola like no other!
I can’t wait for you two to give Lola a cousin VERY soon ;) Please and thank you, no pressure!
Lola woke up JUST in time… First things first, Tequila and it’s go time!!
Lola was so excited to get back in her wagon and I can’t wait to see the “real” pictures of it all! I didn’t get many since Alex and I were both in the wedding party but thankfully Tara snapped a few from the beautiful ceremony! Here comes the Bride!
That(^) picture speaks A THOUSAND words…..
Kayla and her dad have a BEAUTIFUL relationship… his face lights up when he talks about her and he is the apple of her eye!
They’re hitched and the ceremony was SO beautiful, intimate and unique, i loved every bit of it!!
Congrats to you two!!
I feel like everyone finally exhales once we get to the reception!!! AHHHHH “we” did it!
First things first… I could not wait for Lola to meet the Higgins’ sweet babies!! Her and Riley (on Lolas Left) are a month apart with Lola being one month older and Sloan (on Lola’s right) is about 6 months older than Lola!
All three are blue eyed beauties!
Thank you for all your help Aunt Tara…. we are so happy you not only spent the weekend with us but got to see Lola be a flower girl and be my helper for the evening!
“But first- let me take a selfie” Oh yes and to be our photographer!
Pure love! Ms Karen was so excited to see her “other baby boy” get hitched!
Mr. Higgins is the biggest baby lover ever!! He just had to get him some Lola lovin’!
First dance as Mr. and Mrs. Wilkes!
I can’t help but look at this picture and think “Oh how the times have changed!”
Daddy, daughter dance… Butterfly Kisses….. Does it to me every time (now)! Alex mentioned while Kayla and her dad were dancing “Kayla said they weren’t a perfect family but they have got to be the closest thing to it”….
Kayla walked off the stage after dancing with her daddy looked at Alex and said “You are going to be a mess one day with Lola”!
I could tell how much Alex valued the way her parents have raised and loved their girls….. Later that night I found Alex asking Mr. Woody all about the girls growing up… what was hard, what was exciting and about his work life and how that influenced his parenting…. whatever you did Mr. Woody, you did it well!
Your girls are beautiful inside and out!
Lance is a lucky man with the two sweetest women by his side!
Lola passed out on Aunt Tara and eventually fell asleep in the pack and play with Luke while mommy and daddy partied the night away! It was the perfect night and certainly goes to show you can pull off a BEAUTFUL wedding in 3 short months!!
Cheers to the beginning of a beautiful journey together and many more years together!!
We love you both!
