This Past weekend we celebrated Daddy’s birthday in Asheville and stayed at an amazing Cabin with the 2 best things; gorgeous surroundings complete with a waterfall and a big enough kitchen for mom to make sure we all gain 10 pounds before going home!
This was the view from our back porch…. inclusive of Alex and both of our babies the majority of the time!
Tucker and Milly were so funny and awfully dainty… Alex and I kept trying to help them by telling them which rocks were best/safest/smoothest/driest to stand on to make it to the water and they just had a mind of their own!
Tucker was much better than Milly at making his way around and it could have something to do with the fact that Tucker has the biggest feet ever and Millys are barely big enough to hold her toothpick legs up!
Tucker and Milly got more and more brave each time we ventured out… Milly actually swam where she couldn’t reach the bottom.. I have no idea why but she is the cutest thing ever when she swims.. her hiney floats right to the top!
Saturday we had big plans for Daddy’s birthday…. Tara had wanted to take all of us to a beautiful resort to eat lunch for daddy’s birthday and I’m so glad we listened to her!
Grove Park Inn was absolutely breath taking in itself and the view our table overlooked on the terrace was just the icing on top of the cake!
There was a baby shower going on at the table next to us and I already put a bug in Tara’s ear that I better be getting a baby shower there even if her and I are the only ones to make the shower :)
Happy birthday daddy, we love you old man!
Alex was so happy to be taking a picture instead of being in a picture… he then made fun of us for smiling for the camera and then instantly going back to “ourselves” while walking off….
He says the “walking away” picture shows your “true colors”…
Imagine that…
A story really does tells a thousand words huh! haha
Here’s the back view of The Grove Park Inn terrace level we ate on…. the view was stunning!
This little stinker refused to take a picture looking into the sun because he forgot his sunglasses so mom thought she was being sneaky getting the side of us…..
Little did we know he was looking at her while she snapped it with the biggest smerk on his face!
After dinner we played tourist in downtown Asheville, one of my favorite places ever! The only manly thing Lou could find to play with while us girls shopped!
Tara is much more frequent in Asheville than the rest of us; after we finished shopping she headed straight for a coffee shop she thought we would all like to see….
That night we enjoyed some wine, beer, burgers and loaded baked potatoes…. mmmmm!
Oh yes and quality time with each other and the babies, it’s so nice to vacation with Tucker and Milly for once!
We had a huge back porch and an on going/never ending jig-saw puzzle we all contributed too daily!
Including Lou who saved the day after mom finally finished it the morning we left by finding the missing piece on the floor between two wooden planks!
whew!
Tucker was such a trooper on our trip… he is getting to show his age lately with all of his white hair on his face now… I just love it though and since he was born an old soul I think he is just hitting his prime ;)
Milly with her “first choice”AKA her Aunt Tara...
Milly wanted nothing to do with us (well me, as usual when my family is around) so Tucker and I decided to proclaim our love for each other in a small photo shoot!
Eventually I begged, bribed, and talked in my mean mommy ‘is going to spank you if you don’t get over here’ voice until Milly smiled with us! “Ok there together everyone come and get a pic!”
How funny does Mildred look here(above); walrus pose and all!
Hey we had to bribe them with something
That day we got all packed up and drove the scenic route through the blue ridge mountains up to Mt. Mitchel… as they say the best part really was getting there; that and me not getting sick! Lou was the only one who just had to go all the way across, never seen such the dare devil who is also scared of heights!
We stopped to take in the views at Laurel knob…
Mom and dad are such loyal grandparents; every stop on the way through the blue ridge when we decided to stop, they played babysitter- entertainer while Alex, Tara and I took pictures and enjoyed the view!
Speaking of Loyal, Alex and I decided Tucker should stay at the bottom of Mt. Mitchel with mom and dad while Milly went up with us and Tara….
Do you know little miss thing cried the entire time she was away from him!?!?!!?
We kept trying to explain to her this was the “event”… she didn’t really understand how pretty the view was, all she could think of was “where is my brother?!?!?!” People were trying to talk to her and pet her and she barely even acknowledged their presence… rude, I know!
The only thing that remotely helped was when I “massaged” her face the way TJ does when she’s upset and it actually helped!
Regardless of our background noise, What a view!
On our way back to the bottom just as we were coming around the corner with Milly Tucker and mom literally were running towards us…. Tucker and milly began frantically crying when they saw each other and mom gasped with shock….
Mom said she had no idea what was wrong with Tucker, he was completely calm the whole time we were gone and just a minute or two before we came around the corner with Milly he started barking, crying and pulling mom to go to the edge of the building…. she thought something was wrong with him but upon seeing us realized it was only that he somehow sensed we were coming and was frantic to be reunited with us!
Ugh, how are my babies so smart, sweet and perfect!! ;)
So I know you have had a picture overload but mom, dad and Tara got there a day before me and I couldn’t help but steal some of their beautiful pictures with you too!
Here’s a few from moms camera with mostly Tara’s talent!
I love this one of mom and dad!
This one is so Tara.. coffee in hand at al times! There you have it, our much needed get-away in Asheville! Happy birthday daddy, we’re also so excited to hear that as soon as mom and dad got home they pre-booked the cabin for the week of Thanksgiving! All we need to complete our trip next go-round is Billy and Angela to join us!
