Thank Heavens for good suggestions from friends and fellow mamas or honestly we would have never gone to Orlando at all…. I can’t remember if I mentioned it but this trip was supposed to be a cruise… turns out you can’t cruise after 24 weeks!
Yes 24, crazy right!?
So I scrambled as to what else to do last minute (because everything besides a cruise has to have some level of thought and planning thrown into it right?) I was having a pity party to one of my mama friends who suggested we go to Orlando! Hell no, I told her, I am not trying to do Disney, unplanned and pregnant looking for a potty every hour while waiting in a line! She insisted Orlando had plenty of things to do even without doing Disney because of the never ending list of fun restaurants, nice resorts with heated pools… and we will just stop there because I was sold on heated pool.
I was also told by a few friends to spend a day doing Downtown Disney- or Disney Springs which would give us our Disney fix without doing Disney and to go to a Character breakfast/dinner!
Sold and sold!
So the first cloudy day we booked our a character breakfast at the Grand Floridian with Mary Poppins, Alice and Wonderland, Winnie the Pooh and Tigger.
We literally pulled up and had a “Disney commercial moment”… Lola asked “mama is this the princess castle?” I said yes baby I think it is… she finished my sentence for me while stepping out the car and said “mama this IS the princess castle” with all the confidence in the world!
She was literally so nervous and excited she went through phases of jumping up and down and peeking through the door ad then crawling in my lap in the fetal position!
I ended up taking her outside until they called our table so she could burn some excitement!
As soon as we got back in our table was ready
and Pooh was the first one up…. she literally would not eat a thing and we had to move her to a different chair so that she would quit turning backwards ad be able to face the characters!
I have honestly never seen her so excited- it was priceless!
I think Lola ae one piece of bacon (which daddy never lets her eat- bc #choking) and when the bill came I literally told her “go sit with daddy and give a hug!”
It didn’t help that ten minutes later she said “mama I hungry, I need snack”….
We scoped out the beautiful grounds and then took a train around all of Disney before taking a bus to Downtown Disney!
Bless her sweet heart, she tried to do the same poses the princesses were doing after meeting Alice and Alice taught her to put her finger to her mouth lol
Lola and I shopped until we dropped at the LARGEST Disney store ever and then mama and daddy got to sit TOGETHER while Sissy chased birds on the streets!
It was a nice change of pace to have my hubby all to myself during daylight hours!
We made it down to T-Rex Cafe which was SO cute! We got to explore and they even had a fossil pit where you could get a paint brush and dig for fossils! Lola could have spent hours there and continued to remind us “Uncle B would like this”!We would have eaten there but we weren’t even hungry (from all the snacking) and we were desperately trying to work up an appetite for our reservations at Rainforest Cafe!
Lola loved it too!
We may not have even been hungry for dinner but that didn’t slow us down from devouring ourselves at Goofys Candy shop!
Last but not least we had talked up the carousel ride and she spotted it just as we were leaving (yes the only one to have her daddy ride with her- only one to have daddy by her side playing in the fossils too- he still swears she is a newborn.)
We came home and after refusing dinner she dug into some watermelon just before passing out!
It was the perfect balance and as exhausting as it was I can’t imagine how exhausting Disney would have been this far pregnant… thankful I have the best team member on my side!
So as far as Lo knows she did Disney! Bless her heart!
