Well this blog is going on it’s second week in my draft box so let’s move on with it shall we!?!?
Last Saturday may have been freezing cold but we caught an hour without rain and RAN out to get our tree, our real tree!!
It was freezing but we were pumped and literally picked out THE BEST one there!
Remember the hot mess scenario when i don’t get completely dressed…. that was this day… oh well!
Would it be better or worse if i admitted Alex talked me into going to dinner in my pajama pants and bedroom slippers last week?
Anyway, back to the tree!
Lou was in charge of setting it up while I got out the goods!
They absolutely love holidays!
I wonder where they get it from!?!?
It’s up and I love it so much more being in the den with us this year as oppose to last year when it was in the living room!
(Officially 8 months along)
Are we cozy yet!?!?!?
Alex had worked outside in the freezing cold while I worked inside setting up the tree and making Chili… he couldn’t be happier coming inside to hot chili waiting for him! Lou was so cute, he walked in and said “What happened to our house?” Almost mad I asked “what do you mean what happened to out house!?!?”
He then took pictures on HIS OWN phone by his own will of my tree’s and decorations and said “It looks like something in a magazine, did you have someone professional do this, i love it!”
I think most of the excitement was just the feeling of walking in an having the house “feel” like Christmas which is my FAVORITE part!
Look how mad Milly looks at me, geez… I feel like the mom of a teenager who try’s to remind her little girl how much she is going to miss me doing this to her one day!
Wait until Lola gets here, you will be begging mommy to torture you like this again ;)
Oh I’m only kidding Milly you will always be mommy’s priority & if we ever have an “off” day you can count on TJ to annoy you!
At least you aren’t the only one mommy dresses up and annoys Mill, notice your dad has antlers too! I think he was too into something to even notice though!
The den was complete so we moved on to the rest!
Smell and all! The dining room is probably my favorite this year since i have more furniture in it thanks to Tara’s amazing hutch she did for me that helps me decorate throughout the year!
I love my new Christmas plate settings can you tell!?!?
Ok enough, goodnight dining room! So after we finally got the house just how I wanted it and to top it all off the next week it…. “frosted”! Hey, at least it looked a bit white out! It’s better than the rain we were used to!
We spent so much time decorating and Lou doing yard work we decided to work in making cookies to a weekday!
We used Alex’s childhood recipe of Sugar cookie and homemade icing! I think for the first time he was more excited than me to get started- he may sure to come home early so we had a full night of cookie making! I told him how long Billy and I dedicated to making our cookies last year while he was in Germany so he had big shoes to fill!
I think i had to refill the M&M jar five times before we made the first cookie…. those are the reindeer’s eyes LOU!
We made the dough and it had too cool for an hour so we made these in the mean time!
My favorite mix of salty and sweet!
Back to business…. the cookies! Serious stuff…
My camera was covered with icing and flower by the end of the night, I would roll out dough make a cookie and snap a pic, or two or three…. can you tell!?!?
Notice Tucker and Milly had a bone made just for them!We had to make pink icing before moving on to red icing so we could make a pink “L” cookie for Lola!
Wa-la! I must say we were pretty proud of our creations!
Now…. what to do with all of these cookies?!?!?
Takers anyone!?!?!
We are officially one week out from Christmas and I have tons more shopping, baking and my cards JUST NOW came in for me to address and send back out!
Oh boy, tis the season!
