Ate: A lot, Slept: A little, Drank: Too much
Alex and I arrived after dark and were surprised to see what our porch view really entailed the next morning!
It was gorgeous and we had a huge beautiful porch!!
The Marsh on one side and a bridge to Folly Beach on the other.
Night one was full of chatter (good juicy chatter of course), wine and a ghost crab hunt!!
You have no idea how loud a bag of chips can be until you buy a bag of biodegradable Sun chips and have a sleepy, sick Ney Ney in the other room!!
WHEW!
Whether wise: Ney decided her sickness the entire trip was her way of “taking one for the team”….. Instead of us having bad weather, she was sick!!
Thanks Ney! What a trooper, snot rag and all!
We seriously did luck out on this trip……. the forecast at 10pm on the night of our arrival was “scattered or isolated thunder storms” the entire time we would be there… yet we woke to a beautiful day for the beach each morning afternoon!
Look what we found after a long day at the beach and a 50$ parking ticket….
MMMM MMMM Goodness!
Stephanie and Joe scoped this place out the first day… Folly beach is home to Snapper Jack’s – which is home to 2$$ Margaritas for happy hour!!
…and we loove that!
Even though we jumped the gun a bit and our first round was 20 minutes before happy hour started! Oh well!
We couldn’t go home comfortably before knowing we were first “proper tourist”.
I need one of these Lou!!
Look at the card I found for my babies while we were “touristing around”…
We weren’t exactly “board” with out them but sure did miss them!
Below: Renee looks so innocent huh… She’s not! I was pulling her hand out my shorts at this exact moment!!!
We love group shots (but hardly had any)!! This was before our much needed big night out Saturday, after we got a parking ticket, arrived to happy hour before it started and Stephanie’s bad luck of --the beach flooding over her towel, while she was on it, along with her cell phone and then Renee(accidently) kicked mud all over her face and chest…
Which was then passed on to me when I left my clutch and phone in the taxi (yes 2nd time) on the way to dinner and then spilled my rum and coke (yes the color brown) all over my WHITE pants!!
No worries all was recovered and there was a dryer in the bathroom that worked out well!! :)
Look what we found… Folly beach has a huge pier, I think it was 1,000 feet or so but we all needed ice cream before taking on a task like that!!
Yes these are real fish heads with cigarettes hanging out?
I did good “watching” until the guy to my left caught a fish. It was so sad watching the fish being pulled up. I bet that fish was somebody’s mama…. I should have never watched Nemo!
Aren’t they just adorable!
After another day at the beach and peer we decided to get an earlier start for our last night out, and we had full intentions of following through until we- like 12 year olds- spotted a pool….
It was the perfect recipe to get all of the sand off of us and to suffice as the boys “shower” …..or at least it did for Alex!
Speaking of the boys, they were completely content each night as we ran around the house yelling “what in the hell am I going to wear tonight and why is my hair freakin’ crunchy??”
They also “designated” their last night to be a “T-shirt night” hmmm that wouldn’t be my husbands idea now would it???
YES!!
Our last night may have been the beginning of another tradition… We found an amazing seafood restaurant!!
It was an old factory (Hanes and cotton factory) that was turned into a seafood restaurant by the great grandson’s of the original owner in 1986. Our table was checked on by one of the owner’s 2 times during our meal, he also offered us sample’s of their hush puppies which were the best hush puppies I have ever had!! We were told that their sweetness came from the honey they put in them! SO GOOD!
Also we loved the fact that each table get’s boiled peanuts as an appetizer, T-shirts for only 4 dollars and free stickers!
“ Alex take a pic so we can show daddy how big the shrimp were!!”
After dinner it was graveyard time…You can’t go to Charleston and not visit the historic graveyards right…. actually we attempted to sign up for a ghost tour but unfortunately the last tour had already gone out for the night.
So we made our own!
Joe and Stephanie have done almost every ghost tour Charleston has to offer so we set out on a stroll with them as our guide as they attempted to remember as many scary stories as possible!! This was apparently where a little girl was buried alive…
Stephanie and Joe are soooo into ghosts and orbs but we had no idea the extent until Alex screeched so loud from about 50 feet away to scare Stephanie as she was taking a picture of the cemetery….
She jumped so HIGH for so LONG and even scrapped her knee on the way down! Poor thing, Alex laughed the whole night and our whoooole ride home from Charleston the next day re-playing her “jump” in his head!!
He laughed so hard he cried and could barely see the road!!
Sorry Steph!! haha
So long Charleston, we had a blast with you and can’t wait for next year!!
May be easier/ better to look forward to July 4th though… same group different location and with a lake, a boat, a tube and a jet ski…… should be interesting!!
