Well your a little 6 months old now that this is being published and I have a whole new meaning for the word “time”!
You will only understand what I really mean by this one day when your a mommy…..my mind never stops racing of the millions of things i still want to do, need to do or should get done RIGHT NOW! this blog for example I started before you turned 5 months old….. yeah i know! I wish there was an extra 5 hours added to each day to be able to get things done AND sit and soak you up! At the same time, you are constantly on the cusp of learning something new and I get so excited for you to grow and start another day!
I loved you being a newborn but if I could stop at any age at all it would be now, if i could live in one moment forever and ever again it would be now! I’m getting further and further to the right side of the rack when I shop for you (where the sizes go up) and it breaks my heart!
At 4 months your personality started to show and we got many more smiles out of you but months 5 and 6 have been a wiggly, giggly on the move BLAST!
Here’s a glimpse of what you were doing by the time you turned 5 months….
At 5 months you were:
(obviously adorable…)
Reaching and grabbing EVERYTHING! I couldn’t even get a picture of you sitting still!
Hitting and grab the pages on the book at night when we read our books before going to bed.
At 22 weeks old and you slept successfully in your crib without your SWADDLE! Mommy was so happy and proud of you because you have been wiggling and flipping over on your belly a lot more at night lately for sleep and it worried me like crazy!
Two nights later when your Uncle Billy came to visit you REFUSED to sleep without your swaddle… Lou and I panicked and soon realized we had to choose our battles… you sleep through the night and in your own crib. How could we complain… So swaddle it is but ONLY on your legs so you can flip yourself back over!
You started to love watching me do the dishes and cook or do anything really that makes me busy in the kitchen!!
Since you have outgrown your lounger you started sitting in your boppy to watch me from the island!
(I use the term “sit” loosely)
The big news the week you turned 5 months was eating solid foods!! Your mommy was so excited this and your daddy even came home early to watch you try rice cereal and you HATED it! You would have thought we were pinching you! You also used your sippy cup for the first time that night which only frustrated you because you couldn’t figure out the shape of the nipple!
To say we made a mess is an understatement but daddy got every bit of a mess on camera! Naturally our sign language for “all done” is throwing our hands up in the air… fitting right! The only way we could get you to drink out your sippy was if our face was touching mine!
We hung in there twice a day for 3 days and then moved to Oatmeal , that day you grasped everything all at once! You ate almost all of your oatmeal and finished your 2 ounce sippy cup, with mommy's help holding it!
We still made a mess but I swear some pieces were going in… maybe…
After Oatmeal was conquered we added your first fruit… avocados! You loved them!
Your schedule also changed at 5 months, we went from four naps a day to two primary naps and a catnap in the evening, hallelujah!
So we said goodbye to our “bible” and welcomed a little more flexibility into our life!
You found a new love for water…. you went in the swimming pool and the lake for the first time ever and you loved it! Mommy bought around 5 or 6 floats to find one small enough for you and you loved it so much you went right to sleep!
To be honest we couldn’t stand you being in the float, we fought over who got to hold you!
You also went on your first boat ride at the lake and we stuffed you in the tiniest life vest possible but it was still huge on you!
You giggle out loud now and the more we laugh back at you the more you laugh!
You are starting to really recognize people and you always give Mrs. Charisa a big smile when she gets here in the morning which naturally makes mommy feel so much better about leaving!!
You recently started nuzzling your face into mommys’ arm when I rock you to sleep and I melt EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
You love getting to stand! You are so content if I just hold you up and let you stand!
You are so good at holding your own bottle now especially if your laying down! You have started to grab at everything on the table now when we go to dinner and for now, its hilarious! I’m still not used to it but you love menus!
You went to the hair salon with me for the first time ever and the girls were so excited to finally meet you! You were so good with me and waited for over an hour until your daddy came to my your rescue! When you want something you lean forward with your whole body… head first… and you ALWAYS want tucker and Milly!
You and Milly have formed the sweetest most loving bond bnow and it could not make my heart happier! You absolutely LOVE pulling her hair out petting her and thankfully, she is SO good with you! She kisses you all over your face and hands and you just smile from ear to ear! This week you put your fingers in her eye socket and she continued kissing your face…until I noticed what you were doing to her and freaked out!
You also learned how to roll over from front to back and back to front RIGHT after you turned 4 months old!
I started teaching you sign language about a month ago and you already know your first sign, “eat, eat”. You get so excited when i say it, or if your already really hungry you get mad at me for asking and signing it to you! Your still working on learning Dog, More, Food and All Done!
Every night I put you to bed thinking how sad I am that another day has gone… all i think is “you will be another day older when we wake you up in the morning” ad it just kills me! i will say though I have never before truly lived in the happiness of each day the way i do now that i have you, so for that i will forever be thankful! At the same time I can’t wait for another day with you to see what you will learn to do next!
You accomplished so much before turning 5 months old that we welcomed the journey to turning 6 months with great anticipation! I have to say though, it seriously devastated me to tell people you were 6 months old, I remember being pregnant and when people had babies who were 6 months i felt like they were so old and clearly the mommies had it “all together by then” (note to your future self, mommies never feel like they have it all together!). Honestly though, It feel like just yesterday I was packing my hospital bag and SOOO ready to meet you!
So here’s a glimpse of what you we’re doing by 6 months old!
Your sitting up all the time now with help/support, which makes you hate laying down to play anymore…. your way too big for that apparently!
When you were born everyone said you look just like your daddy but now that your smiling more people are starting to say you look more like mommy….. I love you either way!
You got to meet your uncle Billy and you fell in love with him (the feeling was mutual as you two shared your oatmeal each morning)!
You found your toes and your more and became even more like mmmy everyday!
Did I mention your on the move?!?!? You love tummy time now because you have mastered holding your head up and playing with toys in a whole new way!
You are still such an outside girl, your favorite things to do with daddy is to go hiking in the bjorn up Kennesaw Mountain or to the square in Marietta !
You got to eat your “food” out and about for the first time and where better to do that than our favorite; Cafe 33!
You became so mischievous!! Mommy and Charisa found you tearing the bow off of your crib after waking up from your nap one day and then we knew it was game on!!
Mommy loves dressing you up everyday like a baby doll and we love our lunch dates together or target runs!
You started really connecting with me this month and i have loved it! Your hands grab my face and you get so excited you shake… you aren’t sure what to do just yet but i swear its an act of love of some sort 9even though it usually hurts like hell)!
Your daddy loves that you “play games” with him now.. I send you two upstairs to get your pajamas on and come up later and nothing has gotten done! Your favorite game is for daddy to eat your hand…. even if he is supposed to be putting you to sleep at nap time I hear you giggling and giggling!
You are by far the greatest gift we have ever been given and the past 6 months have been THE 6 months I have waited 28 years for! We love you so much Lola girl, I hope to get better at documenting your milestones but I’m too busy enjoying you!
Mommy and Daddy love you!m m,
